At Artisan Theatre School, the safety and wellbeing of every child and young person in our care is our top priority. We are fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all students who attend our classes, workshops, events, and performances.

Our Commitment

 

  • We believe that all children and young people have the right to grow up in a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment, free from harm.

  • We take all reasonable steps to protect students from abuse, neglect, exploitation, and unsafe practices.

  • We operate a culture of vigilance and openness, where safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility.

 

 

Our Safeguarding Principles

 

  • The welfare of the child is paramount

  • All children, regardless of age, disability, gender, race, religion or belief, sex, or sexual orientation, have equal rights to protection

  • All concerns and allegations of abuse will be taken seriously and responded to appropriately

  • We work in partnership with parents/carers and external agencies to safeguard children

 

 

Safeguarding Procedures

 

We follow clear procedures, including:

 

  • Vetting and enhanced DBS checks for all staff, teachers, and volunteers

  • Regular safeguarding training for all team members

  • Risk assessments for classes, performances, and trips

  • A clear code of conduct for staff and students

  • Procedures for handling disclosures, concerns, or allegations

 

 

Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL)

 

Our Designated Safeguarding Lead is responsible for overseeing all safeguarding matters.

Reporting a Concern

 

If you are worried about the welfare of a child, or have concerns about the behaviour of an adult working with children, please contact our DSL immediately via sam.blackwell@artisantheatreschool.com

 

In an emergency, contact the police on 999 or the NSPCC Child Protection Helpline on 0808 800 5000.

 

 

Policy Review

 

This safeguarding statement is reviewed annually, or sooner if there are changes in legislation or best practice.
